Teaching and school practices survey tool
An NZCER-developed survey tool for schools that covers teaching practices, school practices, and principal leadership.
The tool is a refreshed version of the Educational Leadership Practices survey (ELP) which principals and teachers have used since 2009.
The new tool has a shorter survey – taking around 15 minutes – and provides users with timely results. It is free to use in terms 2 and 3 each year. Kāhui Ako can also use it to get a picture across their member schools.
The survey questions come out of research. The school practices and principal leadership questions draw on four key strands of research, including collaborative leadership.
NZCER developed and trialled the survey as a formative tool with the active involvement of professional associations, education agencies, researchers and schools.
NZCER will also use the data collected through the survey tool to produce an annual national report.
